Questa and Cameron Hospital Partner to Fund Healthcare Students and Create a Talent Pipeline

Questa Education Foundation and Cameron Memorial Community Hospital are partnering to support healthcare students with college expenses and connect them with career opportunities at Cameron. Students will be eligible for up to $5,000 a year for two years in loan funding that can be 100% forgiven when students graduate and accept employment at Cameron Hospital. Eligible students can apply this spring for funding support next fall. Cameron is prioritizing students in the fields of nursing, surgical technology, respiratory therapy, occupational therapy, and physical therapy; other healthcare majors will also be considered.

Indiana college students graduate with nearly $30,000 in debt and educational expenses prevent many students from pursuing college at all. Yet, regional employers – especially healthcare providers – are facing significant talent shortages. Questa supports over 400 students a year through a unique, forgivable loan program that helps Northeast Indiana residents afford college expenses, graduate with minimal debt, and join the regional workforce to meet employer needs. Through partnerships with local employers, Questa can fund more students and directly connect students to career opportunities.

“Our partnership with Cameron addresses several important needs in our community,” said Liz Bushnell, Executive Director of Questa Education Foundation. “The program helps local students afford college expenses, significantly reduces their debt after graduation, and it helps Cameron build a unique pipeline for talented new healthcare professionals. It’s a win all around.”

The program will support at least 10 students a year who are interested in working at Cameron Hospital after graduation. Students must be residents of northeast Indiana, accepted or enrolled in a healthcare program, and within two years of completing their program.

“Cameron Hospital is dedicated to the health and success of our community,” said Angie Logan, CEO of Cameron Memorial Community Hospital. “The opportunity to support local students and recruit those talented graduates to join our team is the perfect fit.”
